Welcome To Mother Made Postpartum

I’M so glad you’re here

Hey There i’m Greta,

A lover of everything birth and postpartum. I was born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland and after some years travelling abroad I have returned back home. I’m a lover of movement, outdoors and cooking. I have spent most of my adult life working as a nanny, IHC support and a yoga teacher, only more recently transitioning into pre and postnatal care. Over the last few years I have cared for families after welcoming home their newest arrival.

Being able to arrive into a family’s home, hold space for the mother at a time when often the focus has shifted to baby is my goal in every session. The fourth trimester, as we may like to call it, is a huge transition especially for first time mums. We can often feel unsupported and as though we should be able to do it all on our own.

We have somehow lost that “village approach” to parenting where we once had our larger community supporting and looking after the new family. Back then, a child was raised by the village as opposed to our modern day approach where we are settled into much smaller family units and take on the load alone.

I have studied to be a Postpartum Doula with Julia Jones of Newborn Mothers and have been trained by Helen from Positive Births NZ as a Hypnobirthing Practitioner where I run courses for parents to be.

I believe in a calm, supported and informed approach to the pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. With my knowledge I will be able to guide you in your questions and hold space for you to work through any feelings that may arise.

  • to care for a mother

As a Postpartum Doula I will come into your home and nurture you as the mother. When I arrive, we'll sit down and chat over a cup of tea and check in with how everything is going and where you may need extra support over the session. I can then jump into whipping up some essential breastfeeding snacks or maybe putting on dinner for the family. I am also able to watch over baby whilst you take a long bath or even get a bit of shut eye.

Perhaps I will get through a load or two of laundry, then when you are feeling fresh again we can go through any other areas you may need some guidance in. Belly binding or a sitz bath may feel beneficial in the early days. Our session will hopefully leave you feeling revived and with a bit more energy than when I arrived.

My goal is to care for you as the mother and support the whole family through this transition, being able to provide a familiar face in the household that you can lean on and trust for support.
